  • Children return to school on Monday 7th September, we have 2 non pupil days for teacher training on 3rd/4th September, other non-pupil dates have been added to the term dates for 2015/2016, see News tab for details.
  • PTA Cake Sale was cancelled and will be re-arranged for the new Autumn term.
  • LSA Job Vacancies for September - please see Our School tab, Staff Vacancies.
  • Swimming Crash Courses during the Summer holidays, for beginners and improvers, see the Activities for Children tab in Community Events.
  • Year 6 Geocaching trip at Hadleigh Country Park yesterday proved to be a very hot but exciting day!
  • District Sports 2015 - Congratulations to all the children who took part in the District Sports on Monday 29th June - clear winners with 105 points - we won!!!  More pictures in the Celebrations tab Sporting News section.
  • Happy's Circus certainly lived up to its name last night (24th June) as most everyone declared it to have been a brilliant success.  Many thanks to everyone who came and supported us, to the PTA for all their very hard work and to the staff for helping with the stalls.  You helped raise approx. £750 towards school funds.
  • Well done to The Community Singers who sang as part of the Music Man Community Choir at The London Palladium last Sunday 21st June in “Music is Magic” by David Stanley.  This show at the Palladium included over 90 performers and 21 ladies from our choir performed, by all accounts it was a very beautiful and very moving performance.  The Music Man Project supports adults and children with severe learning difficulties in their love of music and performance.  For more information please watch “Music is Magic at the London Palladium” on You tube or contact Mrs Liston through the school office.
  • Netball Celebration Assembly today, 22nd June, was a lovely tribute to the achievements of all the Netball teams.  See their trophies in the Trophy Cabinet and some photos in the Gallery. 
  • Year 3 pictures of Colchester Zoo trip and the visit from Southend Airport are in the Gallery for you to view.
  • Programmes for entry to the District Sports on Monday 29th June are 50p and available from the school office. You will need one as entry to Garons if you are attending.
  • We held a Rochford District Netball Tournament here on Monday 15th June, where 7 local schools competed against each other.  We and Barling Magna entered two teams and our A team won overall with maximum points, our B team came 5th.  It was a brilliant afternoon with the weather being very kind and our guests seemed to enjoy the day.  Well done to the PTA who sold sweets and refreshments and raised just over £100 towards school funds.  Our well deserved winners received medals and a trophy and our thanks go to Mrs Lisa Steel, our netball coach, for her brilliant organisation of the event and her refereeing!  Thanks also go to everyone who helped and supported us on the day.
  • Friday 12th June 19 of our KS2 children took part this year in the SEESMA Junior Music Festival at the Cliffs Pavilion.  It was the final night of the week long event and was everything a last night should be as it included a great list of popular songs, enjoyed by the hundreds of children who took part and a full house!  Our children were smart, enthusiastic, great singers and very well behaved, a great night was had by all!
  • Year 2 Otter Class thoroughly enjoyed their visit to Hyde Hall.  See more photos in the Gallery.
  • Congratulations to Miss Bowers and our Year 5/6 Rounders team who won the Rounders Tournament against 14 other schools on Canvey Island yesterday, Tuesday 9th June, and are through to the County Finals later in the term, well done everyone!  See their new trophy in the trophy cabinet!
  • Sports Day this term is on Tuesday 21st July!
  • In the News, Gallery tab we have a page dedicated to the Bird Box nest.  Check out the little videos and pictures.
  • UPDATE - Monday 8th June - The nest is empty and the chicks have flown away.  Mum and dad have now gone on their hols for a rest!  We will keep you informed if there is any more action.
  • For those of you who didn't know, Great Wakering Cricket Club are based here at the school.  They now have a page dedicated to the club under the 'Community Events' tab, please look there for information on the club and their current fixtures list.
  • Year 2 class assembly date has been changed as it clashed with the Hyde Hall trip and is now on Wednesday 1st July, 9 am in the hall.
  • Congratulations and well done to our fantastic Netball teams and Mrs Steel their coach, they have had a brilliant season!  We are Mixed League Winners, Girls League Winners and District Tournament Runners-up!

  • We have a new award in our trophy cabinet!  The Healthy Schools Enhanced Award! Well done to everyone who has helped contribute to this award especially Mrs Geeson who did all the paper work!
  • We have had some enquiries from Parents about Xbox use at home, just to clarify one or two points, in the terms of use for one of these consoles it states:  "You acknowledge that some features of the Services, and some content available through the Services, may contain or expose users to material unsuitable for minors. You agree to supervise usage by minors whom you permit or enable to use the Services.   • If you are entitled to Child Care Funding, you may be entitled to claim money for Breakfast Club, After School Club and Holiday Club, please see the Government website, our school Ofsted no. is 114792:    www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare-costs
  • Adult Pilates every Thursday 5.10 pm for approx. an hour, £5 a session, in the hall, mats provided.  Come for a taster session after the half term, all levels welcome.  Please contact the office for more details.
  • Listen to the opening number of the Year 3/4 production 'Robin Hood and the Sherwood Hoodies' on our You Tube or Facebook page, you're in for a treat!
  • Following a recent change in advice from the Local Authority, would parents please note that it is no longer permissible for us to tape children's earrings for a PE session.  With immediate effect earrings should be removed prior to the activity taking place.  PE is a vital part of our whole school curriculum, which children cannot miss, unless injured. Children need to be able to take their earrings out and put them back themselves.
  • Monday 20th October.  It's official!  Our WWI Commemorative Community Mosaic has now been 'opened'!  With a whole host of local dignitaries and people who have helped us research and create this impressive piece of art, our Head Girl Bethan and Head Boy George offically 'opened' the mosaic to the community.  Please see how we pieced together the project with the help of Heritage Lottery funding in the Community Events, 'WWI' tab.
  • We now have a 'Closed' Group Facebook page for parents/carers and relatives to view, please see the 'Follow Us' tab to access the page.
  • Information on our After School Club: it costs £3 per hour or £5 for two, starting at the end of the school day until 5.10pm.   Pick up times are 4.10 pm and 5.10 pm, please be aware that if you are late picking up your child you may be charged. There is a copy of the booking form and more details in the Clubs tab under Our School.   Please remember that you must pay for this two weeks in advance or your child will not be guaranteed a place, please see the school office.
