Many thanks to everyone who donated cakes for our PTA Easter Cake sale, you helped us raise just under £90 towards school funds which is brilliant!
Year 1 became Dr's and Nurses for the day, Thursday 26th March.
I know we have some great footballing dads out there!! Great Wakering Rovers and Colts have arranged a fundraising football match between GWPS/Barling Teachers/Dads v Wakering Rovers/Colts Managers/Coaches on Sunday 3rd May at Burroughs Park. If anyone would like to join the team the cost is £10 per player. You must be over 18 and a parent to a child at the school. Shirts will be provided. There will be a few fundraising stalls, raffle and food and drink on sale. So if you're brave enough to play in a 'friendly match' please give your details to the office ASAP as we only have 10 spaces.
Barleylands Farm Park in Billericay have sent us a free child ticket for every child in school to use over the Easter Holidays. We cannot give these out to the children but If you would like to make use of them they are in the foyer outside Reception.

We have a new award in our trophy cabinet! The Healthy Schools Enhanced Award! Well done to everyone who has helped contribute to this award especially Mrs Geeson who did all the paper work!
Our Netball Girls and Boys are well on form at the moment, winning their latest friendly matches 6 - 3, 10 - 0 and 14 - 1! Read the write up of the matches in Sporting News under the Celebrations tab.
The Year 6 trip to the Westcliff Synagogue proved to be a wonderful experience for everyone who went.
The swimming timetable is in the Swimming tab under News, please remember that swimming fees are due on 27th March. Only those who have paid in full by 27th March will be swimming.
From the PTA - This year our Summer fund raiser is on Wednesday 24th June but we will not be having the our usual Summer Fair, we will be having a Circus! Happys Circus! From 6 pm to 8 pm with doors opening at 4 pm as there will be a few Fair type stalls, a beer tent and refreshments such as burgers, jacket potatoes etc.. Come along with the family and have dinner and a drink whilst the kids enjoy face paints, Tombolas, Lucky Dips and other fun stalls. Seats will be £8 each or £28 for a family of 4 with under 2's on a lap free. You helped raise a brilliant £660 on Friday, £330 of which will go towards school funds with £330 going to Comic Relief for Red Nose Day as well as the £600 we sold in Red Noses, well done everyeone who supported the day!
The Mothers Day gift sale raised £178 towards school funds and the Shopping and Pamper evening raised another £273.69, thank you to everyone who supported these events.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Book Fair we took just over £450 in book sales!
Year 5 became Vikings for the day, they were a ferocious lot!
Year 6 Girls wanted for an U13s Girls Football Team see the flyer in Children Activities in Community Events tab.
Adult Pilates every Thursday 5.10 pm for approx. an hour, £5 a session, in the hall, mats provided. Come for a taster session after the half term, all levels welcome. Please contact the office for more details.

Egyptian Day in Year 3 saw a whole host of little Pharaohs and Mummies running round school!
Have a look in Celebrations to see the Year 6 Poplar Class Library Book competition video entry with a brilliant rap by Emily Stokes, fingers crossed they win! They didn't win but look anyway.
Following a recent change in advice from the Local Authority, would parents please note that it is no longer permissible for us to tape children's earrings for a PE session. With immediate effect earrings should be removed prior to the activity taking place. PE is a vital part of our whole school curriculum, which children cannot miss, unless injured. Children need to be able to take their earrings out and put them back themselves.
Monday 20th October. It's official! Our WWI Commemorative Community Mosaic has now been 'opened'! With a whole host of local dignitaries and people who have helped us research and create this impressive piece of art, our Head Girl Bethan and Head Boy George offically 'opened' the mosaic to the community. Please see how we pieced together the project with the help of Heritage Lottery funding in the Community Events, 'WWI' tab.
We now have a 'Closed' Group Facebook page for parents/carers and relatives to view, please see the 'Follow Us' tab to access the page.
Information on our After School Club: it costs £3 per hour or £5 for two, starting at the end of the school day until 5.10pm. Pick up times are 4.10 pm and 5.10 pm, please be aware that if you are late picking up your child you may be charged. There is a copy of the booking form and more details in the Clubs tab under Our School. Please remember that you must pay for this two weeks in advance or your child will not be guaranteed a place, please see the school office.
