Sports Premium
Great Wakering Primary Academy invests a large portion of the Primary PE and Sport funding to the ‘Basic’ membership services provided through the School Sport Partnership. This allows us to work in partnership and collaboration with The Deanes through the Castle Point and Rochford School Sport Partnership to access a variety of services to benefit students and staff of the school.
This allows us to be part of an infrastructure of 50 schools benefiting from guidance and development around high quality physical education, increasing the range and breadth of ‘School Sport’ opportunities and educating young people regarding healthy and active lifestyles.
In addition to this investment we have Mrs Steel, our sports coach, who leads one PE lesson a week for every class across the school, alongside their class teacher. This allows on-going CPD for our teaching staff in all areas of PE and ensures high standards of PE lessons across the school.
We continue to offer a range of sports clubs for all ages across the school and are pleased that the participation remains extremely popular. We analyse club participation for groups in school to ensure a fair range and take up of these clubs by all children.
During lunchtimes we offer sport KS1 and KS2 clubs and interim competitions between classes. This ensures all children have the chance to participate and we especially focus on those children who do not attend sports clubs before or after school.
