Children's University
At Great Wakering Primary Academy we are proud to recognise the out of school achievements of our pupils and our partnership with the Children’s University.
Every year, Great Wakering Academy attends a graduation ceremony at the Essex University where we celebrate our pupils’ talents and present them with awards for the clubs they have taken part in, outside of school . There are many different levels of award, from certificate to diplomas. To qualify for an award, children need to undertake at least 30 hours of learning, through clubs throughout the year.
The vast majority of our children attend clubs and learn new skills and the graduation ceremony always proves to be a wonderful evening where children can showcase their talents.
To participate in the Children’s University you need a passport available from the school office. These cost £5.00. The school does not make any money on these passports.
When attending a club, get the passport signed to prove you have attended.
Important notes
Hours are accumulated for learning activities and skill development. For example, football training sessions count but a match does not.
Uniformed organisations such as cubs, beavers, girls brigade and scout count for activities undertaken for gaining badges. This counts as 20 minutes per session
If you have any further questions, please contact Mr. Walker through the school office.
