Geography

All children will be equipped with a broad knowledge of the natural and human world and make links between the wider world and where they live.

Geography raises and answers questions about the natural and human worlds.   At Great Wakering Primary Academy, it is important to us that children are equipped with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources, natural and human environments so they can understand and resolve issues concerning the interaction between human and physical processes.  We want our geography curriculum to encourage pupils to think about their own place in the world, their values, and their rights and responsibilities to other people and the environment.  It has been carefully sequenced so the children continue to build upon their previous learning and certain skills e.g. teaching compass points and grid references, are taught explicitly.
